Malaga

  • Malaga- Introduction

The picturesque city Malaga is situated on the Spanish south coast. Antonio Banderas and Pablo Picasso were born there and Salvador Dali lived in the city for many years. Due to its subtropical climate, Malaga is the ideal destination for combining a language course with a holiday at the seaside. The city owes its individuality and unique flair to the cultural "finger-prints", e.g. the ancient eastern walls, left behind by the Saracens and the Moslems, who encouraged the establishment of many other religions.

The people in this area are always ready to involve strangers and make them feel welcome in their society. The city lifestyle is also colourful, as you can see in cafes, shopping arcades and discos. Here, the young Andalucians dance the night away and drink, in harmony with guests from all around the world. Málaga is so lively, that we could be tempted to think that the Magalueos sleep the whole day in order to be "fit for the bar" the next night! However, there is no sign of people sleeping when you see Málaga by day - a lively city indeed. Unspoiled by its climate, ideally located for excursions to the Andalusian coast region and the neighbouring Sierra Nevada (excellent skiing area), Málaga leaves the impression that she will always flourish.

  • Leisure Time and Excursions

You can feel extremely comfortable in Pedregalejo. Here are the most beautiful beaches of Malaga and an endless promenade of restaurants, cafeterias and bars which are a magnet for people of all ages. When you go for a walk and look closely at the villas of Pedregalejo, you will be able to imagine how your dream-house should be.

Activities and trips are mainly organized during the summer months. Besides the welcome, farewell and beach parties, you can take part in the wine tasting events, the tapas tours in the old town centre accompanied by guitar evenings and also excursions to Granada, Seville, Nerja or visits to the white villages of Ronda and Mijas.
You should also visit Alcazaba, a Moorish castle with richly ornamented hall and inner courts, which resemble the Alhambra, then the Moorish Castillo de Gibralfaro, which is a symbol of the city, and La Manquita, (the one armed), the city cathedral with an altar made of black and white marble. In the Capilla de los Reyes you can enjoy different statues of Spanish monarchs and paintings by Cano.
If you are interested in culture, Malaga also has something for you. The Museo de Bellas Artes with a exhibition of Picasso's works (who was born in Málaga) and works by El Greco, Zurbarn, Murillo, Degrain and Morales.
You also have to see the Calle Larios, the street for boutiques in Málaga, where you find the local specialities like cloths, leather and forged works. Whoever enjoys the free and easy atmosphere where something is always happening should come to Malaga.

Ronda, a picturesque small mountain village, is very famous for its old stone bridges and Arabian baths.

It is also possible to book a single or double room. Most of the 3* apartments are within a 5 minutes walk to the school and the beach!
